Wildlife

Last night, I turned on the back porch light to find an Opossum on the back porch.  He took one look at me and then ran off.

About 10 minutes later, I happened to look out back and saw something run through the back yard. I thought it might be a deer, but a second later I saw a fox run right behind the first one.  We have a pair of young foxes that we have occasionally seen playing together.  I guess it was those two.  Wish I could have gotten a picture.

Last winter a beautiful long haired black and white cat kept coming around at night.  He would always come around when it was real cold.  He would come up right to the window, stare right at me and meow pitifully.  I am a reformed  "cat rescuer", and it was really hard for me to not let him in on those cold nights.  He looked healthy though and I was assuming he had a home and I wanted him to go back there!  Anyway, I hadn't seen him for 10-11 months and have thought about him often and felt kind of guilty for not letting him in.  I assumed he must have gotten killed, and more guilt!  Anyway a few nights ago, he came to the back porch to visit. He is still ALIVE!  I felt so much better.

Living in the country like we do, we have a lot of wildlife.  We sometimes see things we don't like.  We have had several birds that flew into windows and got killed.  Last week we found a beautiful Flicker in the back yard, dead.  We don't know what happened to him.

We also have a family of hawks (hate them) that feed off of our birds.  We try to scare them away with a big old bb gun but they come back.  We know that is nature, but they can do it elsewhere!  I don't want to see it.

So did you invite the cat to come in???? What's 10 when you have 9.

No and that's why I felt so guilty. He was so pitiful!
