Well problems

This morning I read a blog about someone who was having problems with the well on their property.  I felt bad for them because they were without water.

This afternoon, we have no water and evidently have a problem with our well.  Since we are "city" people, Al isn't very familiar with the workings of a well.  He went out to look and see what he could do, but then we started having some lightning so he had to come in.

Of course, now I have the urge for a nice long shower.

We have about half a tank of fresh water in the motorhome and a pool full of water....thank goodness!  Good lesson...keep the motorhome water tank FILLED.

It's funny that since we don't have water, it is really bothering me.  I have to keep reminding myself that I have everything I need to survive and at least the air conditioning is working fine, but something is really bothering me, for some reason.  I guess it might have something to do with the fact that it could be a big bill!  I think a new pump is very expensive and our well is pretty deep.   Relax Karen!

Karen..this country girl solutions..Do ya'll have ants..They are notorious for getting into wells around the electric system and shorting it out.Clean the connectors and sprinkle moth balls around the well house and the base of the well.If you have had a lot of lightening..it could of been that..usually just the cost of the connectors..try the fuse box..also where ants can get into..pesky little things!! lol If your well is humming..but no water..your well container has a bladder in it..it could be hung up or bad..this usually results in a new container (for the life of me I can't think of the name of it..oh well)

All these things have happened to us many times over!! Good luck.

Cindy,
Thanks for the suggestions. I thought you might have some:)

No ants around/in well. The tank is empty and we hear no humming noise.

We did have a storm this afternoon, but minimal. We checked the circuit breakers, all are okay.

We're scared the pump is bad...any idea of the cost if that's the problem?

I read something about putting air in the tank, but we're afraid of messing it up worse.

Educate me so we don't get taken advantage of when the well guy comes.

thanks,

Karen

Hummm, I hope this WELL stuff is catching. Its OK to mention my name on your Blog, in fact you can even do a link if you wish...

Ask your neighbors who a good well man is and use a reputable one. Yhey will treat you right, but its always expensive.
It could be the pressure relief switch. Take your volt meter and see if you have power all the way down theline..
There are just so many things it could be that its impossible to know without seeing it....
Check all the breakers closely and if you call the well guy,,watch what he does real close and ask him to explain everything. If he don't or won't, get another well guy..
wish I was closer I would give you a hand........
Regards, and thanks for reading my Blog...
