BlueBirds Fledged Today

We had a nest box by the Rv that had five little eggs in it.  We weren’t sure if all the eggs hatched, but today the nest was empty and there were no eggs left there!  They were there yesterday, but gone today. Another success!

That makes two batches so far this year.  We have two more nests starting, so we should have some more babies soon!  We love them because they are in a nest box and we can open the door and peek in.  The Blue Bird expects encourage you to put up nesting boxes and monitor them for parasites and such.  You are to keep track of when the eggs hatch and not open the next box after day 14.  At that point they are close to fledging and opening the nest could cause them to fledge early.   Just wanted everyone to know that we aren’t hurting them by peeking inside!

The garden is growing well.  We have potatoes, snow and sugar peas that we’re eating already.  We have some green tomatoes, and some small Jalapeno and green bell peppers.  He’s growing cucumbers and dill for some pickles.

Things are flourishing here, between the garden, grass, weeds, and birds!

Sounds like the birdies and the garden are growing just fine! Thanks for all the great facts about nesting boxes. Enjoy your week ahead!

Its nice to be able to see the blue birds nest, hatch and then fly away. Glad they are all doing well.

Seeing you like the nature and the birds thought you might like to have a look at this website. It is of bald eagles and their nest on Hornby Island just off of Vancouver Island. There is one baby now and there is still one egg, but not sure if it is good as the other baby hatched a couple of weeks ago at least. Anyway they have a webcam on the nest area and you can see all the happenings. Keep in mind there is a 3 hour time difference, so early morning you can't see anything because it is still dark.

Enjoy!

Hello Karen! Love to watch new birds join gang in the sky and at the feeders. Love the way fledglings are bigger than their parents! Flutter Flutter.

Welcome to my blog as a follower. I'm also on board with yours

I'm really behind reading blogs. Congratulations on having baby birds. Wish I lived nearby so I could raid your garden!

Google gives you 1G of storage for photos. I've blogged since 2004 and just now used up my 1G. I bought 20G additional storage for $5 each year. I think I some how bought two $5 deals because I have two email addresses - but at least I'm able to post again.

Hi Karen,
Thank you for visiting our Blog. Madi is definitely a character. She keeps us in stitches and on our toes.
She is our 2nd cat..so we had the mistaken idea that we understood cats because we had our first cat 14 1/2 years. Madi is not at all like the first cat.
I love your header. What kind of tree is that?

The tree on my blog header is a Wisteria. It's actually a bush, made to grow like a tree. Pretty isn't it? You should smell it...wonderful fragrance!

Did you happen to read my other blog about my issues with my kitties and their camping trip? You might enjoy our struggles!
